This experience starts from Hawa Mahal (Palace of winds) and Old City Dawn Walk: Begin at the Phool Mandi (flower market) where the air is sweet with the scent of roses and marigolds ready to be strung into garlands or used in rangoli. Across the street is the far more hectic vegetable market - stay out of the way of the (all female!) porters who carry up to 50kg on their heads and have a fast-paced job to do.. We will also stop by a local tea stall and enjoy the delicious Indian Masala chai. This experience is great for those who would like to explore the real life of local people, photography, videography and real India over touristy activities.
Mostly Hindu Rajasthan wears its spiritual heart on its sleeve and even for the most resolutely devout, it is hard to not get swept up in it, such is the flavour that accompanies religious life.
From the Jaipur flower market we are all heading to the Govind Dev Ji Temple in the City Palace, and as we arrive and take position just outside the ornate pink open-air pavilion of the temple proper, energy rises on a wave of the singing, percussion and dancing of the hundreds gathered for their morning prayer, culminating in ecstasy as curtains part
